Canon announced the Canon 1D X DSLR camera today. We have waited so long for the next generation HDSLR, and this one has some great improvements, though I hope the Canon 5D Mark III has some more features like 1080p at 50 and 60fps or higher! Now we have Timecode (amazing, could be possible to sync 3D footage with it), manual audio levels (also during recording), ISO range for movie from ISO 100 to 51,200 and no more 12 minute clip length. With the new model it is possible to shoot up to 30 minutes. Sadly the EOS-1D X still records movies using the H264 codec, but the compression type has changed. Now there is a “IPB” or a “ALL-I” compression. The price is quite high, will be in the $7,000 range! Here is the boring pre-press release: TOKYO, October 18, 2011—Canon Inc. and Canon Marketing Japan Inc. today announced the introduction in Japan of the new EOS-1D X digital single-lens reflex (SLR) camera offering a high level of performance to satisfy the demands of professionals in such fields as sports photography, photojournalism and studio photography. To date, Canon has developed its top-of-the-line digital SLR cameras through the 1Ds series,…

Panasonic announced the new Panasonic Lumix GH2 at Photokina in Cologne. You can mount the first interchangeable 3D lens (12,5 mm) on it. It hast two optical systems installed within the diameter of the lens mount, which creates stereo images (left and right) and processed with a 3D image processing system. I don’t like 3D, but it seems to be a big hype and everybody wants it! The Panasonic Lumix GH2 will ship in black and silver just before christmas. The body costs $ 899.95, the 14-42mm $ 999.95 and the 14-140mm bundle $ 1.499.95. Here are the specs: 16 Megapixel Live MOS sensor SD / SDHC / SDXC memory card slot Micro Four Thirds mount 23 points of auto focus tracking face detection 1080/24p at 24Mbps (the highest in AVCHD format) and 1080/60i Mini HDMI output with no quality lost 3-inch rear LCD hot shoe mount ISO 160 to 12800
I’m a little bit late with this announcement on my blog, but perhaps you haven’t heard about it yet! Nikon unveiled the D7000, which has full manual video control and 1080p. Nikon is now in the HDSLR game. A few weeks ago I thought Nikon is already a competitor for Canon, after they announced the D3000, but this camera has no manual iso control. This is really disappointing. It seems to offer only to shoot 24p in 1080p with the new Nikon D7000. The european market needs 25p, but this is only possible in 720p. Recording in 50p or 60p like Canon 7D, 550D and 60D is not possible. Here are the specs of the Nikon D7000: 16.2 megapixels with new Nikon DX-format CMOS sensor (4,928 x 3,264 pixels) ISO sensitivity range from 100 to 6400 at normal setting; can be raised to ISO 25600 Full HD (1080p) D-Movie H.264/mpeg-4 video compression Makes .mov files at 24fps in 1080 (30fps at 720HD) Movie has built in mono, but stereo sound recording capability with optional external mic via stereo mini jack 20 minute movie recording times High durability magnesium alloy body (dust and water resistant) 6 frames per second still image capture 9,…
Now it is official! Canon announces the EOS 60D. I wrote about it two days ago, now Canon published a press release. If you want to see the leaked pictures of the 60D, just read this entry on my blog! Here are the facts about the Canon 60D: 18 MP APS-C CMOS sensor Advanced creative features with Basic + Vari-angle 7.7cm (3.0”) 3:2 ratio LCD Full HD movies with manual control DIGIC 4 ISO 100-6400, H:12800 5.3fps shooting for up to 58 JPEGs 9-point cross type AF System iFCL metering with 63-zone Dual-layer Sensor Integrated Speedlite transmitter In-camera RAW processing I hope this camera will have some new improvements in video-mode, but no details about that are out yet. We have to wait for Photokina and first reviews…I don’t know how much this camera will cost, but I heard about round about $ 1.000. Update: Now you can preorder the Canon 60D at Amazon.com! Here you can read the boring press release: London, UK, 26th August 2010 – Canon today announces the latest addition to its world-famous EOS series of Digital SLR (DSLR) cameras – the new EOS 60D. Replacing the EOS 50D, the EOS 60D is designed for photographers…
This would be awesome! CanonRumors uploaded some pictures of the new Canon 60D. No Photoshop, just real. On the pictures you can see the actual camera being tested. You also can see, that it is possible to flip the display like the one of the Panasonic GH1. The camera has the same handy wheel with a set button like the Canon 7D and a video record button. We have to wait for Photokina in Cologne this September, there we will get all information about the new cameras of Canon. Many stores have listed the Canon 60D on their stock inventory for the 22nd September. Canon has also to be motivated to integrate their continuous AF in video mode into their upcoming cameras (I don’t need this feature, but perhaps it is great for some Steadicam shots), because Nikon will support this feature in their upcoming Nikon D3100 too. But the biggest rumor is RAW video! I don’t believe in it, it would be paradise on planet earth! The New Canon 1DS Mark IV perhaps will support RAW video. The new full frame camera will have DIGIC 5, a low light sensor in it with lower megapixel count as the D3S….
Nikon has announced a really interesting new HDSLR, which can finally shoot 1080p video at 24 frames per second (720p at 24/30 fps). This is a really great news for all of us, especially for those who love their amazing lenses! The D3100 D-SLR camera outfit, including the versatile AF-S NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR image stabilization lens, is scheduled to be available beginning in mid September 2010, at an estimated selling price of $699.95. 1080p/24 H.264 AVCHD movie mode AF-F Continuous contrast-detect autofocus with face detection and subject tracking for movie mode. 14.2mp sensor with ISO range from 100-3200 (can be boosted up to 12,800). New Expeed 2 processor for improved noise performance. Refined guide system to make camera operations easier. Nikon also announced four new lenses: 85mm f1.4, 24-120mm f4 zoom, 28-300 f3.5-5.6 zoom and a 55-300 f4.5-5.6 zoom lens. Update: Nikon doesn’t strike back! The Nikon D3100 does not have manual ISO control! Come on Nikon!! Here is a demo video: via: Digital Rev
