Some Arri lights for interviews and available light.
Hi Sebastian,
What’s the mount you use to put the Zoom on the camera?
Thanks!
Sven
Hi Sven,
there is no mount to put the Zoom, only a follow focus. I don’t use zoom lenses on my main camera.
Cheers,
Sebastian
Hi,
he probably meant Zoom H4n. Its a hotshoe to 1/4 adapter you get on ebay for 0.99 from china.
What is that on viewfinder?
Hi Uros,
it’s a simple hotshoe to 1/4 adapter to mount the Zoom H4N. The gear near the viewfinder is a wireless unit of the Sennheiser EW 112p.

I wish I had all of that gear heh. Im getting a 501 manfrotto head… What do you think of that one?
Oh and btw, you getting a GH2 or still Canon all the way?
Hi,
no i think the thing over the optical viewfinder
Ah, okay. It’s a modified Denz Canon 7D with remote control! You can start and stop recording with an external trigger.
Nice setup Sebastian. I’m sure it worked great and easy to setup.
Good setup 🙂
cool primes. Owned or rented?

@Beno:
Loan units from Zeiss.
Hey Sebastian, how is your wireless lav receiver attached to your sticks?
Hi Sebastian, how do you find the 504hd head? I am about to buy it, just want to know if it is worth the extra money compared to the previous models, as I saw the older are getting cheaper.
Hey Brandon,
I don’t have an attachement solution yet. Will buy one soon. If you want to mount sound gear on your DSLR, I would buy a cage!
@salvus:
I love the 504HD Head! Very smooth! Which previous model do you mean? Perhaps I have used it!
I mean heads like 501hdv and 503hdv
@salvus:
Buy the 504HD! Better than 501HDV and 503HDV!
yes I had a quick try, and it feels smother and more solid, thanks man! btw nice works and website!
Wow..nice setup…! nice blog too
very cool.
Do you always keep your H4n on top of the camera and not have it closer (and away from any in camera noises)? Or do you also make use of other mics attached to the H4n?
Hey Philip. It’s often mounted on a boom pole. I also use external mics, when I use it on top of the camera!
Hey Sebastian. I love your films> thanks for adding me on Twitter too. I’m blessed really. I want to go into DSLR fim making and want to get the 550D. I’m on a budget and want to get only one lens. If you could give me expert advice on a single, incredible, all round lens to get, what would it be please? Also, would the sigma 30mm 1.4 be good with a 550D? Thanks so much
Hey Aham, sorry for the late answer. You should buy a Canon 24-70 mm 2.8 as allround lens. Perfect, if you want to upgrade later to a fullsize sensor!
Looks awesome, saw some videos you have made… truly stunning work.

hello sebastian
when or in which situation do you prefer to use the 7D instead of the 5d?
why not 2 5D`s?
Hi Eddy, I love to use the 5D in low light situations, because it’s better in higher iso rates.
Hey Sebastian, great rig here. question on using the 7d and 5d together. Do you have issues with making the footage match. I currently use the 5d and would love to go with a 7d as a second cam. Your thoughts?
hi sebastian…what do u think about ur manfrotto kit?
I read a lot of negative reviews about 504hd…..
Hey Daniel,
it’s a great combo! Go and get it!
thanks you so much for you post!!!!!
Heloo Sebastian….
Hope its not too late to post a question.
I am really interested in two things: a) How do you get your sound and the best recording unit that you can recomend i buy. b) Is there an available remote control for GH2 so that when i have mounted the camera in the crane and i can manage to adjust the brightness?
Will be glad if i get the answers.
Hi Conrad,
a) I’m using a Zoom H4N, Tascam DR100 is also a perfect device!
b) Not heard about a remote control for the GH2. You could use a 2-motor remote Follow Focus, where you can focus and set the aperture (only if you have a lens w/ manual aperture)…
Best,
Sebastian
I see nobody has posted in a while. I have a related question. I am also on a budget, so the new 5d Mark III is not possible, but I am considering a 5d Mark II. If you could only have one DSLR for video, which camera would you choose between the D7 and D5 MII. Or is there another option in the same price range you prefer. Thanks.
Hi!
Do you use ND filters and if yes, which ones do you use. Have a mattebox for 4×4 filters, but am unsure which way to go.
Regards
Claus
hello sebastian,
whats your opinion on sony alpha 77 on video? am planning to venture into dslr filmaking and its the camera am considering.
