Short-Film: Istanbul

April 29, 2012

Longer write-up about Nikon D4 and Nikon D800 coming soon!

Shot in Istanbul with the Nikon D4 and D800. Everything until the timelapse was shot with the Nikon D4, very soft if you are using the full frame sensor, very sharp in crop mode! I used the D800 after the timelapse shot!
Very happy with the results. D800 is very sharp. Everything recorded internally!
Graded in 20 minutes with Davinci Resolve Lite.

Short-Film: TUMULUS

April 16, 2012

Finally it’s online. My very first narrative short film. I’m not able to write an extensive blog post right now, because I’m fighting against the jetlag in my hotel room in Las Vegas. This short film was shot with the new Carl Zeiss Compact Primes CP.2 Super Speed lenses! We shot the whole piece in three days with only three lenses: The 35mm 1.5, 50mm 1.5 and the 85mm 1.5. Hope you enjoy it, I also added a very long and hopefully interesting making of video!

Documentary: Hebendanz Brewery

December 13, 2011

English version with subtitles:

German version without subtitles:

Sony F3 S-Log version without grading:

This is a short documentary about the brewer Fritz Hebendanz in Northern Bavaria.

Shot with my Sony F3 and the S-Log firmware upgrade. I also used a KiPro Mini and recorded at 4:2:2 10-Bit ProRes HQ. S-Log is a great feature and worth every penny. It’s like buying a new sensor for the F3 – it simple doubles the sensitivity of the sensor.

Here is a short test clip, which I shot with S-Log:

Other gear I used for the documentary:
Carl Zeiss CP.2 21mm, 28mm, 35mm, 50mm, 85mm
Sachtler Cine 7+7HD tripod
Kessler Crane Pocket Dolly 2 feet
2x Litepanels 1×1
3x Dedolights
Denz Mini Follow Focus
Denz Sony F3 Support System with Rods
KiPro Mini recorder
Genus Elite Mattebox
Schneider Optics Polarizer 4×4

We shot this short documentary in about 16 hours. The whole film was edited and color corrected in 14 hours.

You can find some Behind the Scenes Photos on my Facebook Page.
